A lot of the people who walk through our door don’t begin with “I’d like to book an appointment.” They begin with a question that sits somewhere earlier than that: “Am I the kind of person who should be seeing TCM right now?”
In Chinese medicine, the answer often begins with one even earlier question: what is your constitution?
Qi-deficient (气虚), yang-deficient (阳虚), yin-deficient (阴虚), phlegm-damp (痰湿), damp-heat (湿热), blood-stasis (血瘀), qi-stagnation (气郁) — there are seven basic constitution types in TCM. Where are you sitting right now?
To make that question easier to step toward, we’ve turned the kinds of cues Dr. Judy Chu (R.Ac) listens for in her clinic into a WeChat AI companion: twelve multiple-choice questions, about three minutes to complete, and a small report at the end. It tells you where your constitution is leaning today, and pairs that with a few suggestions — the wellness teas that fit, the herbal-bead bracelet style most appropriate for that pattern, and what a next step might look like if you’d like to move into deeper care.
What it can help with
- Sorting through the seven types — not just naming your constitution, but explaining why, and which daily signals (sleep, digestion, complexion, mood) shaped that read
- Tea and bead pairings — our four SG Handcraft herbal-bead bracelets and our wellness teas each correspond to different constitutional patterns
- Deciding whether to come in — some patterns can be eased gently with everyday care; others are worth a proper pulse-and-tongue reading at the clinic
- Bilingual — Mandarin, Cantonese, and English all work
What it isn’t
- Not a medical diagnosis. The AI cannot see your tongue, feel your pulse, or hear the texture of tiredness in your voice. It offers a preliminary read — a starting point, not a substitute for in-person TCM assessment.
- Not for urgent symptoms. Any persistent pain, bleeding, or significant mood disturbance — the AI will gently direct you to your family doctor first, and consider TCM as complementary care.
- No personal data collected. The quiz asks only constitution-related lifestyle cues (sleep, digestion, cycle, mood). It does not ask for your name, phone, or address.
How to use it
Option one: scan
Hold your phone camera or WeChat scanner over the poster below.
The QR code in the centre is the entry point — once scanned, you’ll arrive at the Sky TCM WeChat mini-program and can start the quiz immediately.
Option two: from our website
If WeChat isn’t part of your daily life, you can also reach the Sky AI Constitution Quiz directly through your browser. The introduction page there has more detail on how the quiz is built.
About Sky TCM
Sky TCM Acupuncture Clinic is located in Aberdeen Plaza, Richmond, BC, led by Dr. Judy Chu (R.Ac). Dr. Judy graduated from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and has practised for over twenty years across mainland China, Taiwan, and Canada. She is a CTCMA-registered acupuncturist in British Columbia.
Our practice focuses on six areas: acupuncture and tuina, bone-setting therapy, herbs and food therapy, the Energy Activation Pod, women’s and pediatric care, and TCM-based facial care. Our orientation is prevent · personalise · integrate — addressing what your body is signalling before it becomes a fixed diagnosis.
Our herbal-bead bracelets and wellness teas are the way TCM follows you home — a quiet daily ritual that extends what happens at the clinic.
What an in-clinic visit looks like
If the AI read leaves you thinking, “I’d like to actually understand this properly,” you’re welcome to book a first consultation. We’ll do:
- A full pulse and tongue reading — the part the AI cannot do
- Four-examination synthesis — observation, listening, asking, palpation, woven together with your daily rhythm
- A clear plan — explaining where to start (acupuncture / herbs / tuina / Energy Pod / food therapy)
- A first treatment, if your visit allows time for it
